Updated Face-to-face restrictions in the UK 28/10

England has a 3 tier system, and the government is very clear that youth sector activity -including Girlguiding- is permitted in all areas, whatever tier you’re in. But there are some extra precautions that must be taken if you’re in tier 3 (Very High) and you want to meet face-to-face indoors – starting with contacting volunteer support before holding any indoor meetings.
Tier 1 (Medium) area: face-to-face indoor, outdoor and online guiding is allowed.
Tier 2 (High) area: face-to-face indoor, outdoor and online guiding is allowed.
Tier 3 (Very High) area: outdoor and online guiding is recommended – only meet indoors if you really want to and are confident that it’s safe to do so whilst considering the following:
  • Can face-to-face activity be facilitated whilst being Covid-19 secure?
  • Has the risk assessment been completed detailing the management and mitigation of risk and updated where needed if the tier rating has changed?
  • Have you thought about the risk of someone in the unit testing positive for Covid-19 and the impact that would have on your own and other volunteers’ personal lives?
If you do still want to proceed, please contact volunteer support including the risk assessment outlining your response to the above points before you can meet and we will discuss and agree this with your chief commissioner.
