Queens Guide Award – learn all about how to start it via ZOOM on 20th July 7pm

The Queen’s Guide award is the highest award you can work towards in Girlguiding. It gives you the chance to develop your skills while contributing to guiding and your local community – at an impressive level!

It is open to members aged 16 to 25 and must be completed within three years from the start date or before your 26th birthday, whichever is sooner.

The Queen’s Guide award isn’t just a great achievement to share with other members of guiding. Potential employers and further education institutions will also be impressed with your accomplishment, which shows you have challenged yourself and achieved your goals in a range of different areas.

If you want to join us please register to attend here. The password to participate will be emailed to you on the morning of the meeting.

AGM via Zoom 25th June

As we can’t yet meet up, this year we are planning to try something different. On 25th June at 7.30pm we will hold a virtual zoom annual review where a few of the county team will host a meeting that everyone is very welcome to log into and watch.

This means we can do our necessary business updates but also then still celebrate just how much we achieved as a county last year.

If you want to join us please register to attend HERE.  The password to participate will be emailed to you on the morning of the meeting.

Whilst we may not be able to meet in our regular units at the moment, we’re bringing you a new challenge to complete at home! Open to all young members, leaders and Trefoil Guild. Celebrate! at Home is a range of fun activities to complete during the month of June.

In our challenge pack, you’ll find a range of activities to suit all ages, abilities and resources. You’ll find that we’ve carried the hall themes through from Celebrate: Adventure, Arts and Action, the Silent Disco and Fun of the Fair, and also added challenges from the Counties across the Midlands Region.

You can download the challenge pack by clicking on the link below as well as a badge order form, for when you’ve completed it. Please ensure you read the notes to leaders at the front of the pack. We’ve also included a plain text version if you want to save ink when printing.

All members and Trefoil Guild

Badges are £1 each, with all proceeds going to NHS Charities Together

Complete the challenge during the month of June.

Join us online for our ‘biggest ever’ region wide, digital promise renewal! Saturday 27 June 2020 5:30pm for approx. 30 minutes.

To be ready to be part of this event, you should ‘like’ the Girlguiding Midlands Facebook page as soon as possible – @GirlguidingMidlands

There will also be more information shared on the Girlguiding Midlands page throughout June, including tips about how you can watch individually or ‘virtually together’ as a unit so keep checking back!

NOVELTY Challenge

NOVELTY is an acronym for Northamptonshire Overnight VE Lockdown Thank You

The aim is to get as many of the County as possible to sleep out or to sleep somewhere different at the same time as we celebrate VE day and say thank you to all those who gave us the freedom we enjoy today.

The sleep-out can take place any night Friday 8th, Saturday 9th or Sunday 10th May. You can build a shelter in a room other than your bedroom or pitch a tent in your garden and sleep in it for one night.

Please email with your numbers attending and photos of them completing if possible (for use on our news page).              A Certificate will then be sent out for each attendee.

Notes for leaders

Please just let your girls and parents know about the challenge. Encourage them to send you a photo as proof they have taken part. We will provide a virtual certificate for all those participating and if there is enough demand, we will make a badge available to buy at a later date.
Download Full Info and Activities

We would like you to send us your photos and some accompanying text about an event or activity you have taken part in – such as the Park Run, Celebrate, Highgate House – show and tell how much you/your girls enjoyed participating.

We would also like to show some photos of of what people are doing right now in this current time of isolation – so if you are virtually meeting – share your experience and advice with us.  Send us photos of the pictures that your girls are putting in their windows.  Tell us about any activities your girls are doing and let us know how it worked best.

We are hopeful that we can put all of this news into an electronic news & views that will be available on the website (under news) and will be emailed. It will also likely be shared on Facebook – so please make sure any pictures you send have parental consent.

Please send to email –

Looking forward to seeing your news
